What the colors mean
The light sits behind the face of the shower head and changes color as the water warms. Here is each color, the temperature behind it, and what to do about it.

Blue: 85 to 105°F. The comfortable range for most showers.

Why the colors stop at 120°F
The last color change sits at 120°F because that is the water heater setting the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends for homes. Above it, the red light starts to flash.
The light reacts to the water. It does not control it. If you see the flash often, look at the setting on your water heater. Our guide on shower water temperature explains how.

| Green | below 85°F (29°C) | Wait: the hot water is still on its way. |
| Blue | 85 to 105°F (29 to 41°C) | Step in: the usual comfortable range. |
| Red | 105 to 120°F (41 to 49°C) | Test first, especially for a child. |
| Flashing red | above 120°F (49°C) | Turn toward cold, and check the heater setting. |
